Resident Evil 4 “Separate Ways” DLC has arrived, letting players see what Ada Wong was busying herself with during the game’s main story (you can check out Wccftech’s impressions of the expansion here). Of course, as always with Resident Evil, Separate Ways contains its fair share of puzzles, secrets, and unique mechanics to unravel.
RE4 Separate Ways Chapter 4 slows things down a bit and presents the player with more puzzles, as you’re tasked with finding specific ingredients in order to make a suppressant for the Plagas infection. In addition to the Red Ink (here's our guide on how to get that) you also have to grab a Gold Bottle and Blue Butterfly. You won’t be able to progress through the DLC until you acquire these two items, but thankfully, we have the solution for you. Scroll down for information on how to get both...
Now, this is the key to this section of the game – you can still access the plinth you placed the Silver Bottle on from the other side of the door. Grab it and the door will close, locking the armors behind you.
Head forward. You’ll come to both a silver and gold doorway, with another plinth between them. Place the Silver Bottle on it and head through the silver door. There’s a more armors and a Gold Bottle on a platform in this room. I bet you know what’s going to happen when you grab that Gold Bottle! You’re going to want to kill off the armors this time around. Once you’ve done so, you can place the Gold Bottle on the plinth from inside the silver room. This will open another door within the silver room containing a treasure. Not essential, but it’s a nice thing to have.
Now, assuming you grabbed that treasure replace the Gold Bottle with the Silver Bottle on the plinth and exit the silver room. Now, put the Gold Bottle on the plinth and go through the gold door. Once you do, retrieve the Gold Bottle again and you’re free to continue on with it in your possession (there are no more locked doors to worry about).
There you have it – all the key Chapter 4 items acquired! Separate Ways leans more heavily into action from here on out, so these are some of the last puzzles you have to worry about.
Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5. You can check out more of Wccftech’s Separate Ways guides here.
