Xbox’s Spencer On ReCore PC; More Crackdown Info Coming-October 2024
Oct 20, 2024 9:21 PM

ReCore is coming to PC, and on Twitter, Microsoft's Phil Spencer talked about this decision. The Xbox head also mentioned Crackdown 3 in his tweets.

Yesterday,  Microsoft reported that all of their Xbox Holiday exclusives sold well over 1 million copies. This applies to Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza 6, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

“2015 was a monumental year for Xbox – the biggest in our history – and we owe it all to our gaming community. We saw record global engagement and sales fueled by high demand for our greatest games line-up and hardware and accessories like the best-selling Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle and our Elite Controller. Every title in our exclusive 2015 holiday games line-up – Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – sold over 1 million units", Microsoft's Mike Nichols said on the Xbox Wire website.

Alongside this announcement, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President also posted a snapshot of exclusive 2016 titles that have currently been announced. Interestingly ReCore is listed as both an Xbox One, and Windows 10 title. On top of that, Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode is listed to release in Summer 2016.

Following questions from the Xbox community, Microsoft's head of Xbox Phil Spencer, took to Twitter to answer some of the questions regarding ReCore and Crackdown.

Spencer confirmed that ReCore is coming to PC via Windows 10, and Spencer pointed out that Microsoft will keep focusing on the Xbox One Experience and in turn, bringing this 'experience' to Windows 10. It's up to the player, on which platform the game is played.

@alexijim88 @ReCoreGame Yes, now that we have the plan we wanted to make sure we announced it will be coming to Win10.

@tac93700 We'll continue to focus on Xbox One experience and bringing the Xbox experience to Win10. You can decide where you want to play.

ReCore PC is a matter of choice; Microsoft wants Windows 10 to be great for gamers as well

With several Xbox One titles appearing on PC, Spencer was asked why someone would still need an Xbox One. According Spencer, the Xbox One is still their best console experience, and while financials matter as well, it's more about choice or preference. Microsoft wants Windows 10 to be a great platform for gamers as well.

@woelfel @tac93700 Financials matter but it's more about choice. XB1 is our best console exp. We want Win10 to be great for gamers as well.

Whether ReCore will be the cross-buy across both Xbox One and Windows 10 is yet unknown. Spencer points out that the actual model for ReCore hasn't been announced yet.

@woelfel @tac93700 We haven't announced the model for ReCore yet, we'll be sure to announce as we finalize the plans.

Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode and its Cloud Infrastructure is a big deal to Microsoft, and according the head of Xbox, delivering the game's multiplayer mode in Summer 2016, is a big deal. More info regarding Crackdown 3's release will be announced later on.

@hypershaters @aarongreenberg We will have more info coming. With the tech in Crackdown delivering MP/online is a big step.

  — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) January 4, 2016

At the moment of writing, it's unknown how Microsoft is planning to release Crackdown 3. Perhaps they will release a digital multiplayer mode in Summer 2016, while the full retail version will release later on. We'll update when we learn more.
