Street Fighter Alpha 3 On Hold
Street Fighter Alpha 3 On Hold-November 2024
Nov 19, 2024 11:28 AM

Capcom's home version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the PlayStation was released in Japan in late December and Capcom US says sales have been tremendous. Of course, the Japanese release of SFA3 had a PocketStation mode - which only added to the rush to own Sony's PocketStation handheld unit (which quickly sold out of its initial 60,000 manufacturing run).

It looks like Capcom could duplicate this success in the US with upcoming release of the game - except for one item. Capcom is waiting for Sony to deliver certain necessary hardware, software, and documentation for the SFA3 manufacturing run in order for the game to support the PocketStation as it does in Japan.

Capcom says the game is ready now. It is hoping to receive what's required from Sony within the next week – and if it doesn't, may move ahead with the manufacturing run of the game anyway. This would mean the US release would not have a PocketStation mode.

“We can only wait so long,” a Capcom spokesperson told us Wednesday. “We think it could sell units for them,” he added. The game is still slated for an April release.

GameSpot News will keep you posted on the documentation dilemma and update our news when we hear more.
