The highly-anticipated Phantom Dust HD remake will release today for free on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.
Microsoft’s head of Xbox games marketing, Aaron Greenberg, announced this through Twitter overnight. “Excited to announce a fan favorite Phantom Dust will re-release exclusively tomorrow for free on @Xbox One & @Windows 10!”, Greenberg tweeted.
While Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, already hinted at a release before this year’s E3 event, an exact release date for the Phantom Dust remaster wasn’t announced.
The re-release of the Xbox favorite offers improved framerates, assets updated for a higher resolution up to 4K, improved Xbox Live support, and support for widescreen resolutions. You can check out some gameplay of the game below:
“The biggest thing is moving [Phantom Dust] to 16:9 and moving to native resolution”, Microsoft Studios’ creative director, Adam Isgreen, recently told Polygon. “So what that basically means is that if you’re playing on Xbox One, you’re running at 1080p so the game is going to render at 1080p; if you’re on a PC and you’re playing at 4K resolution, the game will render its assets at 4K,” he said. “So basically, if you put it in a window, the resolution will be the window size. So we’ve been able to actually take full advantage of whatever you’re playing on and render Phantom Dust correctly at that resolution.”
As said, Microsoft will be making the game available later today for free on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
