WoW Dragonflight Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion Detailed; New Zaralek Cavern Zone, Cross-Faction Guilds-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 5:36 AM

Blizzard has provided a preview of World of Warcraft Dragonflight's next major content update - WoW Dragonflight Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion.

Public testing for Embers of Neltharion on the PTR kicks off today, and the main new features of this content update include the new Zaralek Cavern zone with a new race of mole people called the Niffin, the new Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible raid, a new Mytic+ rotation, cross-faction guilds, revamped item upgrading, improved Tier gear, and more.

"As players will learn in Return to the Forbidden Reach (10.0.7), the fallen Earth-warder Neltharion, infamously known as Deathwing, kept a secret laboratory deep underground below the Dragon Isles", the press release reads. "Both the newly freed Incarnates and a rebel band of Dracthyr led by Scalecommander Sarkareth pose a threat as they fight to gain access to the lab and control over Neltharion’s long-hidden secrets."

Website MMO-Champion has made a summary of the information that Blizzard provided during its preview of the content update, and we suggest reading this summary in full here. Down below we've included some of the information that was summarized.

  New Zone - Zaralek Caverns

This new zone was designed with Dragonriding in mind, as such, it feels quite imposing. Players will be able to fly into the caverns from Thaldraszus, Azure Span, and Ohn'ahran Plains without loading screens. The caverns feature new campaign chapters and feel somewhat larger than Zereth Mortis. In the Caverns, players will find three new biomes, including the Sulfur Pools, the Crystalline Caverns, and the Volcanic regions.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible - New Raid

In this raid, players will explore Neltharion's secrets. It follows Sarkareth as he tries to claim power. The raid will offer nine bosses for players to defeat and launches with three difficulty modes simultaneously, including Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulty.

  Cross-faction Guilds

Cross-faction guilds will be made available upon the launch of patch 10.1 and will launch on the Public Test Realm later this week.

  Dragonriding

Dragonriding has received plenty of positive feedback from the community, and the team is now looking to further improve it by adding new races, talents, and glyphs. Also, a new Cloud Serpent-inspired Dark is being introduced.

Groundskimming will be a new trait that allows players to recharge their Vigor while flying close to the ground.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight is available globally now for PC. Blizzard launched WoW's ninth expansion back in November of last year.
