The US version of Tecmo's Monster Farm Battle Card ships today for the Nintendo Game Boy and Game Boy Color under the similar title, Monster Rancher Battle Card. The game is based on Tecmo's Monster Rancher strategy series and card game (known as Monster Farm in Japan), wherein you raise monsters and train them to fight. The video game was known for its novelty feature of letting players use music CDs from their own collection to breed various types of monsters. Coded data from the CDs produced a variety of monsters when read through the PlayStation.
The Monster Rancher Battle Card game on the GBC will feature the same Monster Rancher-style play. In March, Tecmo shipped Monster Rancher Battle Card to the PlayStation in Japan. The GBC Battle Card arrived in Japan in December 1999.
