3DO officially announced today that the Army Men franchise is on its way back to the Game Boy Color. Army Men 2, the sequel to the Army Men game and the latest installment in the series, is being developed for Nintendo's handheld system and will ship this summer.
The good guys in the green army are once again attempting to vanquish the evil tan army in Army Men 2. In 25 levels of toy-soldier combat, players will do battle in the kitchen, garage, front yard, and other unfriendly confines with exaggerated dimensions. Building on the one-player action, Army Men 2 will also use the Game Link cable to let players experience multiplayer modes such as deathmatch and capture the flag.
The original Army Men game has been perched on the Top-10-selling handheld games charts since March. Army Men 2, according to 3DO representatives, is currently slated for a tentative summer 2000 release.
