Enix America Announced E3 Line-up-November 2024
Nov 7, 2024 11:16 PM

Enix America, the US arm of the company behind Dragon Quest VII, provided GameSpot News with some info about its upcoming titles. Here's a quick look at the list:

Valkyrie Profile (PS, Q3 2000): Developed by Tri-Ace, the same development house responsible for the PlayStation RPG, Star Ocean: Second Story, Valkyrie Profile puts the player in the role of - you guessed it - a valkyrie. As Valkyrie, the player must gather the souls of fallen Earth warriors and recruit them for a netherworldly war between the gods. Set in the world of Norse mythology, this double disc game features three different endings and more than two hours of voice-acting. videogames.com reviewer Andrew Vestal scored the Japanese release of Valkyrie Profile a 7.0.

Dragon Warrior I & II (GBC, Q3 2000): The Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest in Japan) series was the NES RPG series that really put Enix on the map. Now the first two games are coming home again, though this time they're appearing in a combination cartridge for the Game Boy Color. But the game isn't an identical port - characters are larger and more detailed, backgrounds are more complex, and both games will have a cinematic opening.

Torneko: The Last Hope (PS, Q3 2000): Set in the Dragon Warrior universe, Torneko: The Last Hope stars warrior merchant Torneko, a character last seen in Dragon Warrior IV for the NES. This RPG features design work by Akira Toriyama, the mind behind the popular Dragon Ball Z series. The game will contain more than 130 different types of monsters and close to 150 weapons and items. An item-combination system lets the player create new items out of old items. The press release uses the phrase "old-school" more than once, so it's safe to assume that the game will be low on storyline and complexity and high on hacking through randomly generated dungeons.

Bust-A-Groove 2 (PS, Q3 2000) - Released in Japan over a year ago under the name Bust-A-Move 2: Dance Tengoku Mix, this game is the sequel to the 989 Studios-published dancing game, Bust-A-Groove. The game sticks pretty closely to the original, losing a few characters and gaining a few new ones. The Japanese version of this game received a 6.3 from videogames.com.
