Although Marvel's movies and TV shows technically take place in the same shared universe, there has been very little crossover between the two. Now Avengers star Anthony Mackie has talked about why the mediums rarely intersect.

　　During a Q&A at Wizard World Cleveland last weekend, Mackie, who plays Falcon, explained that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige holds a tight rein over events in the cinematic universe.

　　"Different universes, different worlds, different companies, different designs," he said, via ScreenGeek. "Kevin is very specific about how he wants the Marvel Universe to be seen in the film world. It wouldn't work. It wouldn't work at all."

　　There have some been some prior Marvel TV/movie crossovers. Agent Peggy Carter started as a character in Captain America before featuring in her own short-lived TV show. Clark Gregg has played Agent Coulson in both the Avengers movies and TV's Agents of SHIELD, while there are references to the big screen superheroes in the Netflix show Daredevil.

　　However, more recently there has been almost no crossover between the two mediums. As Mackie notes, Marvel Television operates separately to Marvel Studios. In addition, the different production schedules of the two has meant that lining events up chronologically is difficult.

　　In 2015, Feige spoke about the difficulties involved with crossing over movies and TV. "It's easier for [Marvel TV]," he said. "They're more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they'd be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they'd be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy."
