In a press release issued this morning, Seattle-based developer Monolith announced that it has licensed its LithTech 3D engine to Interplay's Black Isle division. Black Isle is responsible for developing and publishing the company's role-playing games, and in the past has put out such titles as Fallout and Baldur's Gate.
"In researching all the available 3D-engine technology out there, we were very impressed with both the support and advanced feature set of the LithTech engine," said Black Isle director Feargus Urquhart. "It is an engine that will definitely help Black Isle create the incredible worlds we are known for."
Shogo: MAD, Blood 2, and a number of upcoming games like KISS: Psycho Circus and No One Lives Forever are being developed using the LithTech engine, however Monolith didn't specify which game Interplay would be developing with the new engine technology. We'll keep you posted.
