Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Is Already in Development, Says Movie Insider-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 2:32 AM

Hogwarts Legacy lovers, keep your eyes open as it is now being reported that a sequel is in development, which will take the franchise to new heights.

The news comes from the reputable movie insider MyTimeToShineHello, who has an excellent track record for unveiling content about the movie industry. While the leaker didn't disclose many specifics, it can be presumed that the leaker has sources within Warner Bros since he has leaked out several content from the studio in the past.

We don't know many details about a potential sequel since it's the first time we heard about it. Still, an iteration was indeed anticipated, given the immense popularity the original Hogwarts Legacy gained. The game was the best-selling for this year, garnering $1.3 billion in revenue. In our review of the game, we were impressed by what Warner Bros brought to the table, especially when creating an adventurous and engaging game set in the beloved fantasy universe.

However, one shouldn't expect a release date soon since Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, has previously revealed a statement about the company's commitment to creating a "perfect" game, even if that would come with a development time tradeoff.

We don't want to put a movie out or a game out unless we think it's our best work. Even if we do that, half the time or 2/3 of the time, it's not going to work. But that's the new cultural philosophy of the company. We're a storytelling company. The best creatives fight to make our content the best it could be.

Considering the usual development timetable of a triple-A game, we could have to wait three to four years before getting Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Meanwhile, the first installment is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. The game will also be released on Nintendo Switch this November, following a four-month delay from the original July 25th launch date.

Harry Potter fans can also look forward to a Quidditch-themed game currently in development for PC and consoles. On the other hand, mobile gamers can already play the collectible card RPG Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, released in late July for Android and iOS.
