CNET Networks acquires Wireless Gaming Review
CNET Networks acquires Wireless Gaming Review -December 2024
Dec 22, 2024 12:21 AM

GameSpot parent CNET Networks today announced that it has agreed to acquire the Wireless Gaming Review Web site (www.WGamer.com) and its owner, WGR Media Inc. Under the terms of the deal, Wireless Gaming Review will join the GameSpot family of Web sites, bringing its hundreds of reviews, previews, and insights with it.

"Wireless Gaming Review has established clear leadership in covering and championing the category, and we are delighted to have them on our side,” said GameSpot founder and senior vice president Vince Broady. "Wireless carriers and games publishers now offer a wide array of fun, sophisticated games for people on the go, and even hardcore gamers are beginning to take notice."

Established in 2001, Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Wireless Gaming Review is managed by a small staff and a network of more than two dozen freelancers. CNET Networks plans to relocate its cofounders to San Francisco so they can work together with the GameSpot team to create integrated offerings.

In the coming months, GameSpot plans to launch a new wireless gaming section featuring Wireless Gaming Review content, and the WGamer.com site will be expanded to include a more comprehensive selection of relevant content from GameSpot and CNET.com, including enhanced games media and handset reviews.
