Now Playing: Borderlands 3 Video Review
There is a risk involved with all of this, however, as the update also makes the murder hurricane--the Murdercane, as it's called--close faster than before.
The event runs until February 11 at 8:59 AM PT / 11:59 AM ET. Head to the Borderlands website to learn more.
Borderlands developer Gearbox Software was recently acquired by the Swedish company Embracer Group in a sale valued at up to $1.3 billion. Despite the sale, Gearbox will continue to work with 2K Games on the Borderlands series, though no new titles in the franchise have been announced. With the exception of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Gearbox has been the lead developer on every game in the series. It also publishes games for other developers. If that continues, it would add yet another publishing label under Embracer's portfolio in addition to names like THQ Nordic and Deep Silver.
Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford recently revealed that the studio is also incubating several new game ideas that he believes could shake up the video game industry like Borderlands did. We also know Brothers in Arms is still alive, with work of some sort being done at the studio. Its spin-off game Brothers in Arms: Furious Four was ultimately canceled and certain elements were fused into Battleborn--which just went offline for good.
