When Black designer Stuart Black and other high-level developers left Codemasters last year, first-person shooter Bodycount was pushed from a spring 2011 release window to an unnamed date in summer. Now, the game has a definite date with retail. The Bodycount rises in late August.
Bodycount will ship for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 30 in North America, followed by a September 2 date in European regions.
As for the game, Bodycount is a modern day first-person shooter that has gamers battling class-based enemies in "outrageous and stylish" gunfights. Players will take up arms in worldwide locations like Africa and Asia, and they can make use of destructible environments to their advantage.
In addition to a single-player campaign, Bodycount boasts online competitive and cooperative components. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's most recent hands-on preview of Bodycount.
