FarmVille and Words With Friends could come to Microsoft's Xbox platform, if comments made by Zynga co-founder Mark Pincus are any indication. The man behind the social gaming powerhouse told GigaOM recently that it is creating a cloud-based technology that would support game saves on a range of platforms, one of which is the Xbox. FarmVille on an Xbox? It could happen.
"Right now we are building back-end technology so that your game state can be saved and served up in different screens/devices," he said. "The interaction cues will take from the different devices. In other words, you can play a game on a computer and call it up on Xbox and you resume from the point you left off, except the gameplay will now be customized for the Xbox controller."
Zynga has not officially announced any plans to bring its suite of social games to Microsoft's Xbox platform, and as of press time, the publisher had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
San Francisco, California-based Zynga had an up-and-down past year. Its initial public offering had a rocky start in December, with shares tumbling during its first days on the market. The company's shares then surged in February on news that Facebook was planning to go public.
