Konami Computer Entertainment Japan has announced the Japanese release date for Zone of the Enders for the Sony PlayStation 2. Developed under the direction of Hideo Kojima, ZOE will arrive in Japan on February 1, 2001. The game is a mech-based action-adventure featuring both direct mech-combat action and complex cinematic story progression. The gameplay consists of players exploring a field map, speaking with locals, and battling in gigantic mechs.
Yoji Shinkawa, the character designer for Metal Gear Solid, will be doing the mech design for ZOE.
