Their genus is homo, their species superior, but most folks simply refer to them as mutants. They are the next stage in human evolution and, though they often look just like everyday people, they are born with strange and wonderful powers that make them feared and hated by many.
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse is the second Activision action/role-playing game starring that wily team of mutant heroes, the X-Men. In the second game in the series, the X-Men, led by the world's most powerful psychic, Professor Charles Xavier, forms an unlikely partnership with the Brotherhood, a group of evil mutants led by Xavier's nemesis, Magneto. The two teams' fragile partnership is based on a common enemy--the crazed Apocalypse, who is hell-bent on enslaving or destroying the world, whichever comes first.
In our third character spotlight for X-Men Legends II, we check out the hopping mad insanity that is the Brotherhood's Toad.
Real name: Mortimer Toynbee
First Appearance: Ultimate X-Men #1
Bio: Toad has spent the majority of his career in the Brotherhood as a lowly…ahem…toady to the big man himself, Magneto. Though he's known mostly for his boot-licking, his combat prowess and high-flying acrobatics make him a formidable enemy.
Toad really throws himself into his work.
What do you expect from a guy named Toad? The guy can jump, he's quick, and he makes the most of every appendage in combat. In fact, a lot of his fighting moves remind us of the Nightcrawler in the old X-Men arcade game. But Toad is more than fists and feet; in the heat of battle, Toad deals damage with his tongue. Yes, we said tongue. One of the more effective, and disgusting, weapons in Toad's arsenal is his powerful prehensile tongue, which can smack enemies at a distance one at a time or take out a whole crowd of foes when he's surrounded. Talk about getting your licks in. If you want to know more about Toad's salacious salivating attacks, hop on over to our media page and check out his character spotlight movie.
