The head of Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios has said he is confident that the negativity surrounding Microsoft's Xbox One unveiling last week was due to Microsoft's "lack of focus on games" rather than the console itself.
"I understand the disappointment of many fans," said Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg in an interview with VideoGamer, "but I am confident their disappointment is in the lack of focus on games during the reveal, rather than in the console."
Microsoft came under scrutiny from gamers after its Xbox One unveiling focused more on television and entertainment rather than games, though Microsoft has repeatedly pledged to show off more gaming at E3, including the 15 Xbox One exclusives it is currently working on.
"I hope that Microsoft will turn that around during E3," added Sundberg, also teasing to VideoGamer that "E3 2013 will be the biggest E3 for Avalanche Studios since we showed Just Cause back in 2005."
Sundberg added that Avalanche Studios has been working with the Xbox One for some time, and that the studio's "impressions from first sight until the recent public reveal have been positive."
Last week Avalanche Studios' chief technical officer, Linus Blomberg, compared the hardware in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, saying "the specs on paper would favor the PS4 over the Xbox One in terms of raw power, but there are many other factors involved so we’ll just have to wait and see a bit longer before making that judgment."
"Once [Microsoft has] cleared any remaining question marks around touchy subjects like always-on and second-hand sales, they are able to focus on the games and the real console war can finally kick off," concluded Sundberg.
