Xbox One backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games was quite the surprise when it was announced at E3 this year. It might not be the one feature that differentiates the Xbox One from the competition, but it's one feature that the others don't have.
Now that backwards compatibility is official with the new Xbox One Experience, coming November 12th. And they have 104 games that'll be officially compatible on launch.
The decision to include this functionality in the Xbox One is a way to entice still owners of the Xbox One to upgrade, ensuring that physical libraries of games won't just become useless coasters. Microsoft is committed to ensuring that gaming can be enjoyed on many different levels. There are still quite a few fantastic games to be played on the Xbox 360, so why waste the opportunity to make money as well as keep gamers happy.
