Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Adds Borderlands and All DLC
Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Adds Borderlands and All DLC-January 2024
Jan 7, 2025 2:42 PM

The lineup of Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One continues to grow. Microsoft and 2K Games on Thursday announced that 2009's Borderlands will be one of the more than 100 titles supported on Xbox One through backwards compatibility when the feature rolls out to everyone in November.

Xbox One Preview Program members, however, can start playing the game today on Xbox One.

Microsoft explains in a blog post today that, crucially, all Borderlands DLC is also making the jump from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. On top of that, your save file will also carry forward to the new platform, so if you never got around to finishing the game, now you'll have another chance.

The intro cinematic for Borderlands included the song "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage the Elephant. Microsoft said previously that games with licensed material could become problematic for backwards compatibility, as contracts would conceivably need to be re-negotiated with artists and their labels.

We've followed up with Gearbox to determine if this song will be featured in the new Xbox One version. We hope it is.
