Microsoft sold 1.26 million Xbox 360 consoles in the United States during November, the company has announced, citing NPD data. Strong sales of 750,000 units during Black Friday week alone helped make the console the top-performer for the 23rd straight month.
In addition, Microsoft announced that total retail spending for the Xbox 360 platform (hardware, software, and accessories) hit $1.2 billion for the month. This is better than any other console in the US, Microsoft said.
By comparison, Nintendo sold a total of 1.75 million hardware units (Wii, Wii U, DS, and 3DS) during the month. Sony has not announced full-month sales figures for November. However, it previously revealed that it sold 525,000 PlayStation 3 units and 160,000 PlayStation Vita systems during Black Friday week alone for a total hardware mark of 685,000 during the shopping bonanza.
