Monster designs sought for Hanjuku Hero
Monster designs sought for Hanjuku Hero-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 10:24 PM

TOKYO--In what has become a tradition for the series, Square Enix is seeking designs from the public for summon monsters that will be featured in a new Hanjuku Hero game. Square Enix has not yet revealed details on the game, but it is most likely the Nintendo DS game in the series, which was shown at E3 as Egg Monster Heroes. The company posted an ad on its Web site, which calls for fans to send in their designs to the Tokyo headquarters via postcard.

Translated directly, Hanjuku Hero means "half-boiled hero"--the player in Hanjuku Hero fights by summoning monsters out of a large egg. Summon monsters that appeared in previous releases of the humorous series include a zombie that can cast a healing spell on itself and die and a monster named Dragonfry, which has the head of a mighty dragon and the tail of a fried shrimp. The series has not yet been released outside of Japan, most likely because the jokes are difficult to translate.
