The Worms franchise has been burrowing into consoles and PCs for ages. Team 17, located in West Yorkshire, England, has been bringing the annelids to gamers for more than a decade, and the overwhelming majority of its catalog is based on the series. Now, Team 17 is letting its fans take the invertebrates on the go with its first handheld Worms game since 2002.
THQ today announced that it will publish two new Worms games for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. The company has not set a release date for either.
The games will continue the tradition of accessible gameplay and humor that the franchise is known for. THQ and Team 17 haven't released any solid details about the game, but Team 17's studio director, Martyn Brown, did hint at some basic features. "Both of these new systems represent exciting new handhelds capable of delivering unique experiences both in single-player and using the exciting wireless multiplayer capabilities of the platforms. We are developing incredibly addictive new versions of our classic game for existing fans of the series and newcomers to the world of Worms."
Worms recently made its debut on the Xbox with Worms 3D, and Worms 4: Mayhem is squirming its way onto the PC later this month.
