Codemasters has announced that World War II, its upcoming real-time strategy game in development at The Bitmap Brothers, will use a system called frontline that will give individual soldiers and units morale attributes such as heroism, confidence, despair, and cowardice.
"With the frontline system, this game will be the first action RTS to deliver a true re-creation of the battlefield experience; the first to portray the psychology of warfare, rather than the sterile theory of 'wargaming,'" said Mike Montgomery, managing director of The Bitmap Brothers.
World War II will include some of World War II's most significant battles, such as Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. Players will assume control of the Allied forces and try to drive the Axis forces back into their own territory.
World War II is scheduled for release in the second half of 2002. For more information, visit the Bitmap Brothers Web site and take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
