Microsoft has announced that Windows Me is now available in retail stores. The operating system is a revision of Windows 98 that bundles digital media applications as well as utilities for system maintenance and home networking. Some of the new applications included with Windows Me, such as Windows Media Player 7, are also available as free downloads from Microsoft.
Additionally, Microsoft is offering a discount on the Windows Me upgrade for owners of Windows 98 from now until mid-January - instead of US$109.99, the upgrade will be available for $59.99. The full version of the operating system retails for $209.
