The Wccftech staff is proud to present the Game Awards 2015! We were very happy to notice the strong community participation in the Reader's Awards polls, which have registered thousands of votes.

　　Now, with 2016 just kicking off, we will introduce you to the winners alongside the Staff Awards (resulted from internal polls made with the same categories and nominations).

　　Without further ado, let's announce the Game Awards 2015 results.

　　While 2015 was a great year for role playing games, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt managed to leave its peers trailing behind in both our polls, winning the Reader's Award for Best RPG with 58% of the votes and the Staff Award with 50%. CD Projekt RED also managed to deliver an excellent DLC, Hearts of Stone, within the year and an even larger one is scheduled for the first part of 2016. If for some reason you didn't buy The Witcher III yet, do yourself a favor and enter this beautiful fantasy world: you won't regret it.

　　The action/adventure genre situation is very similar. Despite strong contenders, Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won handily the Reader's Awards with 47% of the votes and the Staff Awards with 75%.

　　Once again, this is hardly surprising to those who have played MGSV. Adding a full fledged open world significantly expanded the gameplay possibilities, making it the best Metal Gear Solid yet in this regard. You can read more details in our full review.

　　Staff and readers had different opinions about last year's shooter games. The Staff Award was snatched by Star Wars Battlefront with a single vote victory, after an unexpectedly fierce battle with Splatoon.

　　DICE's rendition of Battlefront delivers breathtaking graphics (and great optimization across the board) with a fun and easy to pick up gameplay, as explained in the review.

　　Readers, however, rewarded Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege with 33% of the votes against Battlefront's 25%. Seven years after the last franchise entry, Siege brings very intense one-life multiplayer matches for hungry tactical shooter fans.

　　Staff and readers' opinions once again realigned for the Best Sports game. The prize goes in both cases to EA's FIFA 16, which crushed the competition with 47% votes for the Reader's Award while the Staff Award was a little tougher.

　　FIFA 16 managed to surpass both last year's FIFA 15 and this year's PES 2016 in every regard, once again confirming itself on the throne of sports games. Check out our review to learn exactly how.

　　After a few years of development, Slightly Mad Studios finally launched Project CARS in 2015. The crowdfunded game fared excellently among racing game fans and that includes our Staff and Reader's Awards polls, with the great DIRT Rally coming close in both cases but falling just short of victory.

　　Colossal Order's city builder Cities: Skylines was among this year's surprises in the genre. The game, which features a significant Steam Workshop support for mods, managed to beat Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void for both prizes.

　　Opinions of readers and staff once again diverged when it came to voting for the best family game of 2015: the Staff chose Lego Dimensions with 50% of the votes. As suggested by the name, Lego Dimensions features characters and environments from several popular franchises (such as Gandalf and Batman) all mixed in one big adventure. 　　Readers, however, preferred Nintendo's Super Mario Maker. Perhaps that's a slight euphemism, considering that it won with 63% of the votes... Super Mario Maker, as suggested by the title, allows WiiU owners to create their own Mario levels. You can find out a lot more in the full review.

　　Elder Scrolls Online managed to win the awards for best MMORPG, though in both cases facing fierce competition from Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars The Old Republic. The game was released successfully on consoles last year and it's now getting DLC content packs on a regular basis, with the next ones set to introduce the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood.

　　While there were some genuinely good surprise in this list, Rocket League thrashed them in terms of votes (75% for the Staff Award and 51% for the Reader's Award). Psyonix found its golden goose with this game, a sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars featuring an improved formula and a much better name.

　　Xbox One owners will be able to play the game (though separated from the joint PC/PS4 community) in just a few weeks, with the release set in February.

　　Thatgamecompany's masterpiece has won the Staff Award for best remaster, beating Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection by a single vote. Journey has been remastered at 1080P@60FPS and published for PlayStation 4 in July 2015, and it's also cross-buy: if you already owned it for PlayStation 3, you can now download it for free on PS4.

　　Our readers chose Homeworld: Remastered Collection with 43% of the votes. Gearbox has done a great job in remastering Homeworld 1 & 2, and now PC gamers can enjoy these cult RPG titles with updated graphics and features. Owners of this collection also get a 20% pre-order discount for the brand new Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, due later this month.

　　Techland bested itself with Dying Light, by far the best zombie game released in recent years. Both staff and readers rewarded them with the Game Awards for best cooperative game released in 2015; a new expansion is due soon, though, so the fun isn't over yet.

　　The Witcher 3 is the only game to win two categories this year, and deservedly so. Geralt's last great adventure has received 57% of the readers' votes, while the fight for the best overall game was much tighter within the staff, where Xenoblade Chronicles X came close.

　　Hats off to CD Projekt RED. We all cannot wait for Cyberpunk 2077.

　　We've also voted for the most anticipated game to be released this year, though. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End won the staff award after a close fight against The Legend of Zelda WiiU.

　　Much like Geralt in The Witcher 3, Nathan Drake will be off for his final adventure. There's a been a small delay recently, with the PlayStation 4 exclusive now due in late April.

　　It is hardly surprising to see Star Citizen thrashing every other game as the most anticipated title of 2016 for readers. After all, this is the community that provided Chris Roberts and his team with over $100M of funding, redefining what people thought was possible through crowdfunding.

　　Star Citizen is perhaps one of the most ambitious videogames ever conceived. This year we'll learn if it lives up to the colossal hype.
