Halo Wars 2 Won’t Support HDR, But Future Titles Might; PC Version At 4K Resolution Looks Stunning-November 2024
Nov 8, 2024 4:01 AM

Many high profile titles, such as Mass Effect Andromeda, will be released with full HDR support, which will improve image quality considerably, but not all titles launching in the next few weeks will. Among those lacking HDR support will be Halo Wars 2, the strategy game developed by 343 Industries and The Creative Assembly.

Speaking with Fenix Bazaar, 343 Industries Design Director Clay Jensen confirmed that Halo Wars 2 won't have HDR support at launch. At the same time, the PC version running at 4K resolution is stunning, so those looking for high-quality graphics still have something to look forward to.

I wish that I could say yes. Unfortunately, we are not going to have HDR support for Halo Wars 2. We do support 4K on PC, which looks gorgeous, and you definitely need to play that because it’s stunning.

HDR support could be patched in after launch, but it seems like this won't be happening. At the same time, Jensen clarified that they will be looking to support it in future titles.

It’s something that, certainly in future titles, we’ll be looking to support it. Unfortunately, not for this launch

Halo Wars 2 launches on PC and Xbox on February 17th for those purchasing the Ultimate Edition and on February 21st for those purchasing the regular edition.
