In addition, producer Yoshinori Ono announced that the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour would kick off on March 18 next year. The tournament would feature Street Fighter 5 as the official game, and will have a $500,000 prize pool. The finals are scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
This year's Capcom Cup was a culmination of the year-long 2015 Capcom Pro Tour, a competitive event which saw thousands of players duke it out in Ultra Street Fighter IV to determine who would become the Street Fighter World Champion. First place walked away with $120,000 as a prize, with second place awarded $60,000. For more details on who won, check out the full list of results.
Capcom rolled out a few Street Fighter announcements over the weekend, including the reveal of series newcomer Fang. The character is second-in-command at M. Bison's organisation Shadaloo and utilises a variety of attacks laced with poison (the substance, not the Street Fighter character). Fang's V-Skill is called Nishodoku. When executed he throws a slow moving projectile filled with poison. On contact, it slowly deals damage. His V-Trigger, Dokunomu, creates a poisonous cloud around his body that deals damage to the opponent when they are close to him. Fang will be available at launch.
Street Fighter V is being developed for PS4 and PC. The game will feature cross-platform play and is scheduled to release on February 16 for North America and Europe.
