TOKYO--Sega will release its classic arcade 3D fighting game Virtua Fighter 2 for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on October 14. The game will be the latest release in the Sega Ages 2500 series, which brings back classic Sega games for a retail price of 2,500 yen ($22). The company has not made any plans for a North American release.
According to Dorimaga magazine, Virtua Fighter 2 for the PS2 is being developed by Sega-AM2, which is the studio that created the original arcade version. Sega says that graphics and sound in the PS2 version will be arcade quality, and the game will come with two modes that allow players to play the game as the original edition from 1994 or the updated edition from 1995, known as Virtua Fighter 2.1.
