Microsoft Game Studios held a preview event for its upcoming Xbox 360 and PC game Shadowrun in San Francisco this week, and GameSpot News dropped by to get a peek at the game. Shadowrun differentiates itself from the pack because it was designed from the get-go to allow for cross-platform play--that is, PCs and Xbox 360s can play in the same multiplayer sessions. The game also calls for players to use a fair amount of strategy and teamwork on the fly, all the while avoiding a hail of gunfire from the opposition.
GameSpot News had a chance to talk to Mitch Gitelman, general manager of FASA Studios, to discuss the challenges of simultaneously developing a game for two platforms, the PC-versus-console-FPS debate, and why playing Shadowrun requires both fast reactions and fast thinking to succeed.
