A third Venom movie is on the way, and producer Amy Pascal has shed some more light on what stage of development it's in. Speaking to Collider in a video interview (below), Pascal said it's still early days for the follow-up to Let There Be Carnage, and right now the focus is on promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home, which releases soon.
"We are in the planning stages right now but what we are focused on is getting everybody to come and see No Way Home," Pascal said.
2018's Venom was a massive box office success, making more than $850 million worldwide. The 2021 sequel, Let There Be Carnage, pulled in around $483 million globally this year during the pandemic. There is no word yet on when the third movie might be released or what the story could be beyond continuing the misadventures of Eddie Brock/Venom with Tom Hardy.
Venom the character is now part of the MCU, and Pascal briefly discussed how Sony works together with Marvel/Disney on its Spider-Man universe collaborations.
"There's the wonderful movies that Sony makes with the other characters [and] there's the Marvel universe, there's our Spider-Verse movies, and we're all very careful to work with each other in a way that is additive for everybody," Pascal said.
The next entry in Sony's Spider-Man movie universe is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which releases on December 17. It's the conclusion to the current trilogy, but three more films starring Tom Holland are said to be in the works.
In other news, Avatar director James Cameron recently discussed his failed attempts to make a Spider-Man movie.
