The third game in the Valkyria Chronicles series has been staying healthy on the charts in Japan. Following in the footsteps of the first two games, Sega will not only be releasing the anime adaptation of Valkyria Chronicles 3, subtitled Tagatame no Juusou, on native soil next month, but will also offer bonus missions for those who purchase them.
According to Sega's official Original Video Animation site, the first part of the two-part OVA will be released in advance on Japanese PlayStation Store and Sony's Qriocity video-on-demand service from April 13 to May 12. The high-definition and standard-definition versions of the first part will be sold for 500 yen and 400 yen respectively.
The Nameless Squad and Squad 7 team up in the bonus mission from the OVA's online release.
Viewers who purchase the show online will receive a product code for a special Valkyria Chronicles 3 mission for the PSP. The mission is titled "Innen no Taiketsu" and features a "what if" scenario where the Nameless team works with Valkyria Chronicles' original Squad 7 group.
The retail versions of the first part, both Blu-Ray and DVD versions, will only be out on June 29. The limited editions (labeled as two versions: Black Package and Blue Package) will include different audio commentary and a download code for an extra Valkyria Chronicles 3 episode called "Isara Hashiru." The episode explains the backstory behind the OVA and features Isara Gunther, a character from the first Valkyria Chronicles. The Blu-Ray and DVD versions of the limited edition will cost 6,090 yen and 5,040 yen respectively.
The second part's release date has yet to be determined. Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be out in English in the first quarter of 2011 for the PSP.
