US PC game charts: July 2-8-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 1:18 AM

The holiday-shortened 4th of July week resulted in a lighter-than-usual release schedule, and the US PC game sales charts for the week reflected that. Aside from some shuffling in the ranks, the only "new" game to break the top 10 was Star Wars: Battlefront II, originally released in November of 2005. Battlefront II eked its way into the 10th spot, pushing out Electronic Arts' sim-minded NFL Head Coach.

As has become tradition, Blizzard's massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft sold the most copies and claimed the top slot again. THQ's Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures, the last non-WOW title to hold the top spot, continued to keep pace with the leader and finished in second.

While EA's latest sports game ended its brief stay in the top 10 this week, its Sims series represented in force once again. The Sims 2 and its Family Fun Stuff expansion pack were third and fourth, respectively, while the Open For Business expansion came in seventh.

The EA-published retail version of Half-Life 2: Episode One rebounded from last week's precipitous drop, jumping back up four spots from nine to five. As for the remainder of the list, THQ's mythological role-playing game Titan Quest slipped a few places to six, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion held steady at eight, and Guild Wars Factions slid slightly, from seven to nine.
