We all know there is much hype surrounding the launch of the PlayStation2 March 4 in Japan - Sony has been building up momentum with its new PlayStation powerhouse for almost a year now. Previously, Sony indicated that it intends to sell one million PlayStation2 units at the launch - a feat accomplished by no game console before. However, in an interview with Reuters this morning, corporate adviser to Sony Kiyoshi Yamakawa emphatically stated that, "The company hopes to sell two million units in the first two days of the launch." He went on to say that, "We think it would be even more successful than our PlayStation I." An astounding projection, to say the least.
It should be noted, though, that these figures do not come from Sony itself, but rather one of its advisors. The company has not officially changed its one-million projection.
