[Update: Trading Re-Enabled] Diablo 4 Trading Suspended Until Further Notice; Blizzard Clarifies ‘Accidental’ Trading With Exploiting Players-November 2024
Nov 16, 2024 8:59 AM

[Update 8/16] Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 trading has been re-enabled after a back-end hotfix. Players now should no longer be able to use exploits to duplicate items and gold.

"We have re-enabled trade in Diablo IV this evening after a backend fix to address the exploit", community director 'PezRader' writes.

[Original story] Blizzard has temporarily suspended Diablo 4 trading due to players using an exploit to dupe items and gold.

Recently, crafty players discovered an exploit in the game that allowed them to duplicate Gold as well as items. To combat these exploits, Blizzard has now suspended the player trading function altogether until further notice. The development team is currently working on a fix to address these exploits. On the official Blizzard forums, community manager 'filthierich' wrote the following. "We’ve suspended player trading in Diablo IV until further notice due to a gold and item duplication exploit', the community manager wrote some hours ago. "We are working on a fix to amend this issue and will update you once we’ve reinstated the ability to trade. Once that is done, we will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all. As always, any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement."

On the Blizzard forums, various Diablo 4 players have reported having been banned due to using exploits, but Blizzard hasn't formally announced that it will ban players after using said exploits. Then again, it's likely that sanctions will follow. After announcing the suspension of player trading, Blizzard did clarify that players who've accidentally traded with a player using exploits, won't be actioned against. "A point of clarification: players who accidentally traded with a player found using the exploit won't be actioned against", Blizzard wrote.

Blizzard hasn't provided an update on when the team will release a fix that allows Diablo 4 trading to be enabled again. Of course, we will keep you updated as soon as more information about this matter comes in.

Diablo 4 is available worldwide now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
