Sledgehammer Founders Leave Their Positions To Become Activision Executives
Sledgehammer Founders Leave Their Positions To Become Activision Executives-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 3:30 AM

Sledgehammer Games founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, who have been working together since Visceral Games, will now leave the studio to join publisher Activision in the role of executives, according to a report by Kotaku. Here's the official statement they got from Activision.

Following the incredible success of Call of Duty: WWII, Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey have decided to transition from their duties at Sledgehammer Games to new executive duties inside Activision. We thank Glen and Michael for their tremendous body of work on Call of Duty and look forward to continuing to collaborate with them in their new roles. These changes have created an opportunity to elevate one of the key leaders at the studio, Aaron Halon, to lead Sledgehammer Games. Aaron is a founding member of Sledgehammer Games and the natural fit to lead the team. He has over 20 years of industry experience and has played an instrumental role throughout the studio’s history. We congratulate Aaron and are thrilled about the future of Sledgehammer Games, which we believe has even bigger days ahead.

Call of Duty: WWII was a resounding success for Activision, turning out to be the top grossing console game of 2017 and contributing massively to the publisher's extraordinary fiscal quarter.

It was also a pretty good franchise entry, as explained by Kai in his review of the game.

Call of Duty WWII doesn't have 'quite enough' campaign moments to really leave you feeling like a war hero when it's finished, just like there's 'not quite enough' multiplayer content with the map count at a series low. What you do get in the box though is a fantastic return to form for Call of Duty with a solid multiplayer that will hopefully grow and evolve in future map pack updates.

Next year, Call of Duty will be in the hands of Treyarch with a rumored Black Ops IV title.
