Word from Crystal Dynamics and Eidos is that they plan on releasing the PlayStation title The Unholy War in October.
The two-player 3D combat/strategy game pits two races (the native Arcanes and the cyborg Teknos) against each other on the planet Xsarra in a tactical RPG, akin to Final Fantasy Tactics or Star Control.
Mixing alien technology with magic, sorcery, and swordplay, the game features two modes: Combat Mayhem and Combat Tactics.
During Combat Mayhem, players select a team of characters and battle head-to-head against their opponent in arcade-style action. In Combat Tactics, players take turns positioning forces and building resources on a 3D strategy map, then initiate real-time combat against each other. Players of The Unholy War will be able to take control of 14 character classes and wage battle in any of 14 combat arenas.
When it ships, Unholy War will contain a demo of the upcoming Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.
