Ultimate Arena has today announced that Counter-Strike is now available to play for cash prizes on its skill-based action game Web site. Counter-Strike is the fourth game to be supported by the site, which, after launching with America's Army, added support for both Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2003 last month.
"Counter-Strike is the number-one action game in the world, generating more than 4.5 billion player minutes per month," said Dennis "Thresh" Fong, chief gaming officer of Ultimate Arena and world champion of Doom, Quake, and Quake 2. "These millions of Counter-Strike players who believe they've got game finally have a place to prove it at Ultimate Arena."
Ultimate Arena allows players to create and compete in tournaments with entry fees as low as 50 cents. Players are assigned ranks based on their previous performance and are matched up with players of similar ability to compete for cash prizes determined by the number of players in the game and the entry fees.
