Sony Computer Entertainment UK has today announced that more than 5 million PlayStation 2 consoles have been sold in the UK to date. With Christmas approaching, PS2 sales are continuing to increase exponentially week after week.
"We are delighted to reach and pass the 5 million mark," said Ray Maguire, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK. "There are still big weeks to come as Christmas looms. The rate of sale is incredible and shows that PlayStation 2 remains the console of choice. Our established market leadership position has no doubt been bolstered by having the largest amount of games and a growing online presence.
