LONDON - One of the best-looking titles in Ubi Soft's booth was easily Evolution on the Dreamcast. While we had already seen the Japanese version of the title, it was great to see the Japanese RPG gracing Ubi Soft's booth of mainly European and American-bred titles. According to a company spokesperson, the title will be released in the UK and the US this December.
Because of Ubi Soft's newfound interest in porting Japanese RPGs, we asked company officials what future titles we can expect. Although nothing could be made official at the time, we learned that it's very likely that both Evolution 2 and Grandia 2 will see UK and US releases from Ubi. Because the company had the rights to both the first Evolution and Grandia (while Sony is the US publisher, Ubi is putting the title out in the European market), it has first dibs on the sequels. One Ubi Soft representative said that the company is, "very interested in expanding its RPG translation efforts," so it's very easy to assume that both sequels will see US and UK releases from Ubi. We'll deliver first word when Ubi makes its intentions official.
