Ubi Soft seems to be all into licenses as of late. Just recently the company announced the development of a VIP game to star Pamela Anderson, and now it has announced plans to develop a title based on another license, Inspector Gadget.
Thankfully, the Inspector Gadget title won't follow along the same path as the mediocre movie. Instead, Inspector Gadget for the Game Boy Color and PlayStation will be based on the cartoon series of the same name. Ubi describes it as an "explosive platform game," and players will be required to solve missions using all of Inspector Gadget's devices.
Inspector Gadget is being developed by Light And Shadow Production (LSP). It is scheduled for a release on the PlayStation and the Game Boy Color at the end of 2000. Versions for other platforms could very likely follow.
