Ubi likes it GRAW
Ubi likes it GRAW-October 2024
Oct 24, 2024 12:29 PM

Ubisoft's decision to delay the Xbox 360 version of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is looking more and more like a move of tactically sound precision. The shooter, which has received great reviews from the press, has set a new sales record for Ubisoft and helped boost the company's stock.

The publisher released the sales numbers of the game today, and Tom Clancy's stealthy Ghosts are making quite a noise in retail. In North America, the game has sold through 240,000 copies since its release March 8, according to Ubisoft. That figure makes the game the fastest-selling title in its first week of release for the company, which has been in business since 1986.

The stat is particularly impressive given that the Xbox 360 hasn't fully penetrated the market and Ubisoft has released some popular games in its past, such as the sequels to Myst, the Prince of Persia series, and the other Tom Clancy franchises, Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six.

Outside of the States, GRAW has sold 120,000 copies in its first three days of release in Europe. It is now the fastest-selling Xbox 360 game ever in France, Germany, and the UK.

Investors loved the invasion of Ubi's shooter into homes, as the company's stock rose 4 percent on news of the game's success, rising to 36.61 euros ($44.62). As of press time, the company's stock settled to 36.06 euros ($43.96).

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is rated T for Teen and retails for $59.99.
