Disney is calling upon the power of two studios to build Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. A Disney spokesperson explained to Shacknews that Blitz Games will handle the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Epic Mickey 2, while Junction Point will focus on the Wii iteration. Like Mickey and Oswald, Junction Point and Blitz are teaming up.
"[Epic Mickey 2] is being developed much like a feature film with a different studio contributing to the development of the game," said the Disney representative. "It's a full partnership between Junction Point and Blitz with one creative leadership team and one creative vision."
Blitz Games will build PlayStation Move support into the PS3 iteration of Epic Mickey 2, but the Xbox 360 version will not support Kinect.
"Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is a multiplayer action adventure game with platforming elements that require precision and control," said the company representative. "Kinect isn't the ideal user interface for a movement-heavy game. A Kinect Epic Mickey game, set in Wasteland, is an interesting idea, but it would be a completely different game."
Previously developed Blitz Games products include Puss in Boots, Michael Phelps: Push the Limit, and Fantastic Pets.
Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two was revealed last week with a fall release date attached. A sequel to the 2010 Wii-exclusive Epic Mickey, the game boasts co-op, full-voice acting, and a tilt toward music, according to lead designer Warren Spector.
