Midway told Gamespot News that, as recently reported in Nintendo Power, Cruis'n Exotica and NBA Showtime 2000 are heading to the Nintendo 64. Exotica is essentially certain to appear on the Nintendo console sometime this year, while the Showtime franchise, which last appeared on the N64 as NBA Showtime: NBA on NBC, is also reported to be in the works.
Cruis'n Exotica, the latest in the Cruis'n franchise, picks up the arcade-style racing mantle in this newest installment. The blueprint remains intact as Midway reps told us that the game would feature fast driving, tight controls, and outlandish cars and environments. Through the game's 12 courses, players will race through such earthbound tracks as Alaska and India, and celestial courses such as the planet Mars. Cruis'n Exotica will also improve on the prequels' graphics, with environmental elements such as monstrous dinosaurs and detailed backdrops. Other notable features will include four-player modes and memory-pack support.
The tentatively titled NBA Showtime 2000 looks as though it will continue the arcade-style two-on-two hoops action on the N64. Midway reps said the company is reluctant to reveal any details at this time, but we should see both four-player support and official team and player licenses in this latest incarnation of the series.
Cruis'n Exotica is expected to be unveiled at the E3 show this May. There has been no word yet on whether NBA Showtime 2000 will join its Midway brethren at the event.
