NEC InterChannel announced that it will release two games, Monster Breed and Mercurius Pretty, for Sega's upcoming console, Dreamcast.
As it sounds, Monster Breed is a game in which you raise monsters. As your monster grows, you send it to battle with other monsters, and you can also explore a Rogue-like dungeon (randomly generated levels) to find treasures and items.
The game will also be compatible with the Virtual Memory System (VMS). You'll be able to trade monsters with your friends or train your monster while you're on the go.
There are over 180 different monsters in the game, and according to the game's director, each monster uses 5,000 polygons.
The other game, Mercurius Pretty, is a fairy-breeding simulation based on the world of Alchemy. This game is a port of a PC game that was released about five years ago. The basic setting involves you getting a seed of life from your master alchemist and then breeding the seed in an incubator.
Unlike the other games announced for the Dreamcast, Mercurius Pretty will utilize the Dreamcast's 2D graphics abilities. According to the developer, it will run in 640x480 resolution with 16 million colors.
Neither game has a firm release date yet. Although both companies are affiliated with NEC, NEC InterChannel is a separate entity from NEC Home Electronics.
