Tron 2.0: Killer App races to retail-October 2024
Oct 21, 2024 9:36 PM

Last August, PC gamers got Tron 2.0, a first-person shooter that reworked the intracomputer world created by the cult-classic film Tron. Over a year later, console jockeys are getting a chance to enter the same updated universe. Today, Buena Vista Interactive announced it has shipped Tron 2.0: Killer App for the Xbox. Rated "T" for Teen, the game retails for $39.99, $10 more than the Game Boy Advance version of the game, which shipped last month.

Unlike the Monolith-developed Tron 2.0, Tron 2.0: Killer App was developed by British studio Climax, creator of Sudeki and MotoGP3. Its plot follows that of the original game, dropping players into the midst of a virtual-world war being waged by a horde of evil programs led by the "user" Thorne. To stop them from bringing down computer systems worldwide, players will join up with benevolent security programs, using a variety of weapons, including the famous, Frisbee-like light discs from the film. Also returning from the film is actor Bruce Boxleitner, reprising his role as programmer Alan Bradley. Rebecca Romijn also joins the game's voice cast.

Tron 2.0: Killer App will feature 60 single-player levels and 10 new multiplayer maps. Since the game fully supports Xbox Live, these maps can be played online with up to 16 players or offline with up to four players via split-screen display. The The game also features six multiplayer modes, including deathmatch, data capture, and racing light cycles redesigned by Blade Runner concept designer Syd Mead.
