Tribes update-October 2024
Oct 27, 2024 10:32 AM

Sierra today released an official statement reaffirming its continuing support for the Tribes team-based action game series. Last week the company announced a significant reorganization that included the closure of Dynamix, the Oregon-based developer that created the Tribes games. Management of the games has been relocated to Sierra's Bellevue, Wash., studio, where Rod Fung will be in charge of ongoing development. Fung is best known for producing Sierra's SWAT action game series.

According to the company, the transition of Tribes management from Dynamix to Sierra will not be noticeable to Tribes players, and the company will remain dedicated to supporting the franchise. Work is continuing on an upcoming patch for Tribes 2, and a playable demo of the game is also in development.

Starsiege: Tribes, developed by Dynamix, was first released in 1998 with groundbreaking team-based first-person action. The sequel, Tribes 2, was released earlier this year. Both games regularly appear in lists of the top five most popular multiplayer action games.
