Toshiba has started to ship the first notebook to use Nvidia' GeForce2 Go graphics chip. The Satellite 2805 puts the 16MB version of the GeForce2 Go together with an 850MHz Pentium III processor, 128MB of memory, and a DVD/CD-RW combination drive. The new notebook is now available for $2749 on Toshiba's site.
The GeForce2 Go is similar in design to the GeForce2 MX, but it integrates several power-saving features and runs at a slower 143MHz clock speed. ATI, which has long held a strong position in mobile graphics, recently announced the Mobility Radeon to compete with the GeForce2 Go. Other notebook makers are expected to release products with the GeForce2 Go next month.
