Top Gun: Maverick is returning to theaters this week ahead of its release on streaming platforms. Paramount has announced that Maverick will be back in cinemas across the United States beginning this Friday, December 2.
The film debuted back in May after numerous delays related to the pandemic. It had a strong showing in theaters during its initial run, earning $716 million in the US and $770 million from international markets for a total of $1.48 billion. It is 2022's highest-grossing movie globally.

Maverick will come to streaming via Paramount+ on December 22. Maverick is already available to watch at home, as it became available to purchase outright and rent earlier this year, but December 22 marks the first time it's coming to a streaming service.
Thanks to Maverick's huge success in theaters, star Tom Cruise is said to have made $100 million from the movie. Maverick is a sequel to 1986's Top Gun, which also starred Cruise in the lead role.
The new movie was directed by Joseph Kosinski and also stars Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, and Glenn Powell. The original film was directed by the late Tony Scott.
