There's few phrases that get me more fired up than: Codemasters has announced the development of TOCA Race Driver 2006 for the PlayStation 2, the Xbox, and the PC. After all, I didn't just love the last entry in the series, I was freakin' obsessed with it. Like weekly online racing league-type obsessed.
As you'll see in our excellent Q&A with Codies studio head Gavin Raeburn, the game is taking some interesting directions on the story mode found in previous games, as well as adding features that should make the sim guys drool: namely online qualifying sessions, an improved ranking system, a more sophisticated damage model, and a host of different series to race in, including the ability to work your way up to a seat on the BMW Williams F1 team.
So what's your take on this first look at the new TOCA game? Do you like the story driven campaign and the all-over-the-map styles of racing? How will TOCA stand out in a crowded field of racing sims this year? Personally, I can't wait to find out...
